Float Switch Options
When ordering Koi Watch, you can select from either the Standard
or Extended drop float switch. These special float switches
are designed to pivot above the water line eliminating problems with blanketweed etc building up around the pivot point - all so common
with conventional float switches.

Standard Drop Float Switch
Extended Drop Float Switch
Standard or Extended?
Your choice of float switch will largely depend
on the filter system you have installed. The extended float
switch has a longer arm and as such the water level must drop
further in order to trigger an alarm than the standard float switch. The extended float switch is therefore more suitable to
systems without an automatic water top up system where the water
level is likely to fluctuate with evaporation between top ups.
We recommend installing the extended drop float
switch such that the pivot point is 3.5 cm above the water line.
In this configuration, the float switch will trigger an alarm when
the water level drops 7.5 cm. The standard drop float switch
should be installed such that the pivot point is about 1 mm above
the water line. Given this,
the float switch will trigger an alarm when the water level drops
approximately 3 cm.
Please see the Koi Watch manual
for more information on installation and operation. If required, please
contact us to discuss installation on your own system.
